I’m having a baby shower in a couple weeks. The father of the child and his family, who are throwing the baby shower, invited his new girlfriend without asking me first. She’s been trying to convince my child’s father to take full custody of the baby once she’s born so that they can raise her without me in the picture. Thankfully he’s not the type of guy to ever do that to anyone. Is it wrong of me to ask her not to come to the shower, or to ask him not to bring her even though his family loves her and are the ones throwing the shower for me?

hmm.. not if she wants you out of the picture and they know that and have heard that from her mouth.. the best thing is to tell them seeing under the circumstances of her wanting my child to herself, I would prefer and enjoy my shower more if the woman whom can’t wait to get me out of the picture was absent.. just say it politely and like I said if they know she’s pushing or wants to push you out the should understand..
no, it isn’t wrong of you. it’s your baby shower and they should have asked you if was alright if they invited her in the first place.

It was very very very wrong of the other family to invite her, how odd is that? I’d ask the family to not invite her.
tell ur him!!!! let him know that u dont want her to be there cause it will stress u out and that could affect the health of the baby.
It’s your baby shower and your baby. There is no reason for a woman with that attitude to attend.
OMG I can’t believe that his family would do that to you. It’s totally inappropriate for the new girlfriend to be at your baby shower. If I were you I don’t think I’d go to my own baby shower if that woman is going to be there. It’s very clear that you are going to need to take a very assertive stance to make sure that the baby’s father and his family realize that YOU are the child’s mother and they are ones who will be out of the picture if they continue with that type of disrespectful attitude towards you.

I’d try to have a conversation with them about how uncomfortable it makes you feel.

This is your shower, your baby, your time to bask in the glory of becoming a mother. You have every right to ask her NOT to be there. Especially considering the remarks she’s made.
Don’t get me wrong, I guess you are not in the position to say anything about it. First it will create an impression that you are selfish, which is not, of course, it could have been that the father of your child should at least be civil enough not to invite her, but he did. Or maybe you could try to talk to the father of your child and tell him it is going to be a bit awkward for you if he bring his gf. But i say, you just keep quiet about it because as you said, his parents liked the gf. I’m just so sorry for you you have to go through this…If i were you, now my child’s father has a new gf, i wouldn’t even let them throw a baby shower for my child…i don’t know your situation, but can’t you throw a baby shower with your own family?but if not, there’s nothing you can do but get along..Just don’t mingle with the gf a lot during the baby shower..Good luck
Ummm, I can’t believe his family would put you in that situation to begin with. I don’t know how you get along with her but your obviously uncomfortable and you shouldn’t have been put in the position of feeling that way at YOUR celebration. Its your baby that you are celebrating and you shouldn’t have anyone there that you don’t want. I would tell the family that you don’t want her there and if they still won’t uninvite her, I would stay home myself.
I can think of nothing more tacky than inviting baby’s daddy’s girlfriend to the shower. UGH!!! His family should SO KNOW BETTER!! If you don’t tell her not to come….I WILL!!
